More – The Challenge to Become

Often times we have said in the past that “Less is More” when it comes to stuff in your home, schedules of the family, hobbies, pretty much anything you can think of.  Yet, here is the one time where I have to say that “More is More.”  Years ago, my husband was truly inspired by Heavenly Father and put together a slide show for someone very close to us, in hopes it could help him in his life.  Ever since then, I have LOVED and my children have LOVED watching this over and over again as we feel the spirit testify to us of the truthfulness of it’s message.  In today’s world the youth are so plugged into technology that they are essentially unplugging themselves from their family, their friends, and God.  What a shame that we give our children sooooo much that could help turn them away from what they need most in life, the gospel.  Our teenage son is frustrated at times with his lack of a cell phone while allllll his friends round about him have one and use it constantly.  Yet, our own personal choice for our family has been one my husband and I have never regretted making.  When you take away all the distractions society and Satan put out there, what do you have left?  More time to put towards the things our Heavenly Father would want us to do.  Less things to pull us away from Him and more chances to become who He knows we can become.  So I share this with you, asking that you watch in the same spirit it was created and please direct others here, if you know someone who could use this in their life as well.

Here are a couple of conference talks that would be a great way to start Family Home Evening tonight.  Pray about which one your family needs and then let your spirit be inspired to share what He wants you to share.

  1. Thanks Valerie. This is exactly what I needed. 🙂

  2. Hey, our kids said they were the ONLY kids at high school without a cell phone. Good to know they were not alone! 😉 They lived through it and have turned out great. I still think it was a good idea. (That way you have something great to give for a graduation present!)
Don’t you just love being the strictest parent on the block?
    Loved the video. Thanks!

    • Jill,

I love it when other parents have the same ideas as we do. It is getting so few and far between now a days to find a kid without a cell phone. That IS a good graduation present. HAHA!!!
