What's on the Menu? – Ham and Corn Chowder

Whenever the seasons change and it starts to get cold outside, I always think of making a warm and yummy soup! I made this soup this past week for both a neighbor and my grandma. They gave glowing reviews and wanted the recipe. Here it is! This recipe is also one of the easy and simple recipes found in our 4 Week Menu Planner. I hope you enjoy it too!

4 red potatoes – cubed
½ red onion – diced
4 c. water
2 c. cheese – shredded
1 (16oz.) bag frozen corn
2 Tbsp. McCormick Broiled Steak Seasoning
1 c. butter
1 c. flour
1 qt. half-n-half
2 c. milk
1 ham steak – cubed
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large saucepan combine the potatoes, onion, water and 1 Tbsp. broiled steak seasoning. Boil for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. In another saucepan, combine the flour and butter. Bring to a boil and whisk for 2-3 minutes. Add the half-n-half and milk. Stir until thickened. Add milk mixture to cooked potatoes. Add the cheese, corn, ham, pepper and 1 Tbsp. broiled steak seasoning. Heat through until warm and cheese is melted. Enjoy!
